Frequently Asked Questions
If your question isn’t answered here, please feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to help, and I can update this list, as it may be something others are wondering about too.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes long.
How often will I have counselling?
I believe counselling should be individual rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, so I offer flexibility in how we work together. I also understand that your needs may change over time, and that’s completely okay. We can regularly review how often we meet so your sessions continue to feel right for you.
Session frequency options:
- Weekly sessions
Weekly counselling offers regular, consistent support and can be helpful if you are working through something ongoing or emotionally demanding, or if you value having a steady space each week. - Fortnightly sessions
Fortnightly sessions may suit those who prefer more time between sessions to reflect, or who need support that fits around other commitments, while still maintaining continuity. - Monthly sessions
Monthly sessions can work well as a space for reflection or check-ins, particularly if you are feeling more settled or wanting occasional support. - Ad hoc sessions
Ad hoc sessions are available for those who prefer flexibility or are unsure about committing to a regular schedule. These sessions can be arranged as needed, subject to availability.
How long will I need counselling for?
There is no set time for counselling. Some people come with a specific issue and finish once they feel they have worked through it. Others find regular sessions helpful for maintaining their mental wellbeing, while some choose to dip in and out as needed.
The pace and duration of our work together are always led by you.
Will you give me advice?
In person-centred counselling, advice is not given in the traditional sense. Instead, I focus on supporting you to explore your own thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe, non-judgmental space.
I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and through being listened to and understood, you can find a clarity that wasn't there before and make choices that feel right for you.
